2023-07-11T11:29:09-04:00interestingRetirementWell, I've done it, LOL, I'm finally retiring from the VA. 8/31/23 will be my last day. I will transition from our Asheville NC apartment behind the VA into our retirement house in Old Fort NC. Dave is still working in the apartment complex office and most likely won't be too far behind me when he finally decides to retire, then he'll give up the apartment and join me in our house. I still want to work part time doing something, what, I don't know, I'm looking. Love our house setting, so tranquil, quiet, peaceful. Thought I'd push full time working at the VA for another few years, but nope, it dawned on me, it's time to take my life back and enjoy some freedom, LOL.

2023-02-16T20:17:54-04:00New book publishedIn Memory of Paul BolenbaughToday, Beth Tfiloh sent out the sad email below about Paul Bolenbaugh. I remember always finding Paul Bolenbaugh's classes so interesting. He was one of the few teachers who gave us the opportunity to discuss topics instead of just listening to lectures and taking notes. My son was also fortunate to take a class from him at Beth Tfiloh.
Our Beth Tfiloh community mourns the loss of retired history teacher of 58 years, Mr. Paul Bolenbaugh. As longtime friend and High School History Department Chair Mr. Joel Monroe recounts, "There is no question that Paul’s life was enriched by the students that he taught. He would be the first to tell you that one doesn’t last 58 years in a classroom unless they love it.” Mr. Bolenbaugh's love of teaching and connecting with others inspired countless students throughout the years and made a tremendous impact on the greater community.

2022-10-14T17:50:03-04:00In Memory of Paul BolenbaughIn MemoryIt always saddens me deeply each time I learn of another classmate passing away and yet I continue to hold strong to my inner spiritual faith that we all are just on a journey that transitions from this existence to the next. There's a song I truly enjoy for it's simple yet deeply moving tune and words, Sand and Water by Beth Nielsen Chapman.

2021-01-04T11:40:31-04:00These were great!Ann FickI'm so excited, back in 10th grade I had for English Mrs. Ann Fick and I remember when Tom Dickman and I headed out to her house in Butler MD and went horse back riding sometime after we had been done with her class, well I was doing one of my in my head stroll down memory lane and I thought, let me google and see if she's around. I found her! She's minutes away from me down here in South FL. She's in Pompano Beach, her and her hubby moved down to be near their son. So I called her and reminded her of when I met Norma Angel (from Lima Peru) in our 10th grade class, she remembered it well. After COVID19 restrictions ease up, she'd love for myself and Dave (my spouse) to head over to hook up with her. Bless her heart, she's 82. I can't wait.

2017-07-18T00:46:09-04:00Finding My HS Graduation Photo!Farewell to our beloved GracieAs we take our dear sweet Gracie to the vet today to discuss options, it appears she is in her last phase, we knew this was coming, but still it never is easy. I hope today isn't the actual day we have to let her cross over, but we know it's very soon. She lived a long blessed life with us, we will of course miss her sweet little face and her cute little unique ways, but she will be in her favorite garden out back where we can reflect with wonderful memories of the time we had her in our lives.

2016-04-04T07:09:23-04:00A must readIn MemoryI've only recently come back in to our website, and as I read through the In Memory list, it has just gone deep into my heart just how important it is that each of us truly count our blessings for every day that God has granted us, and that we should always continue to keep our classmate connection alive. I know Life has a way at times of pulling us in so many directions, myself included, and yet each time I re-connect with you all, I become so filled with fond memories of our younger days and it just touches a special place in my spirit. I wish each of you God's richest blessings, peace, health, and unconditional love. Many of you have kept strong bonds of friendships together over the years and that is a testimony of just how awesome we as classmates can remain united. I look forward to seeing you all in years to come. Love Jack

2016-03-31T07:35:07-04:00In MemoryWow, i just looked at the pics from 35th reunionWorking in the Veterans system has for sure been challenging. I'm sure many of you have seen the news about how much needed change the VA system is desperate for. It amazes me how quickly the years fly by. One minute I'm starting a new job in 2013 at the VA and finding out that I couldn't get the time off to attend the 35th reunion which was all pre-paid while still at my previous job with the State of FL, then I finally get time to re-hook up with some classmates that live in FL, which in turns re-ignites my thought process to get back into the Pikesville78 website and do some updating, and there I see the pics from the 35th reunion; omg, what awesome pics, what an awesome looking time it appears to have been, I wish I could have been able to be there, so God willing if He sees fit to let me stay on earth for our 40th, i'll be there. I'm already getting myself pre-psyched up for it, LOL.
