Brian Lewis

We live in Bethesda, MD and have two high school students at home: Jamie (16) and Ava (14). My 27-year-old daughter, Samantha lives several miles away and usually joins the chaos and fun of Friday night dinners with us.

I'm nearing 20 years in the US Public Health Service and nearly done a 4 year term of added duties as Physician Chief Professional Officer supporting the US Surgeon General and the 600 physicians of the USPHS. I continue my core FDA cardiology work and VA hospital work caring for vets. I swim, spin, bike, play guitar, conduct and sing to try to stay balanced.

Kakki, my wife, is a journalist, author and speaker on parenting challenges (see www.katherinereynoldslewis.com). Kakki and I have enjoyed volunteering as educators at Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) Kensington, MD for years.

I can never get the image out of my mind of Tom Heyn, Tina Sigel and friends in the madrigal group trying to start the song "Dieu Qui La Fait" through tears of giggling. (For a rough idea visit: http://web.mit.edu/21M.405/www/Samples/TroisChansons1.mp3)

Also clowning in the back rows of choir, taking tons of flak from Dr. D (God bless his patience with that!).

Also the audacious crushed burgundy velvet and black tuxes of madrigal group -- "Chorale?" and the time the women stole all the men's pants from the men's bathroom. We wore those burgundy and black tuxes for a panicked mid-traffic group picture on Smith Ave. The resulting photo in our yearbook is one of my favorites.

I also shared - in the memories section of this site - a story about David Avery that is really remarkable.

I feel so fortunate to have been raised in a loving and caring community at Pikesville High School...a lasting and positive influence on my life.
